Some of you may be familiar with the term BIFI, but for those of you who are not it stands for “Brain Injury Family Intervention”. It is a series of interventions for clinicians to use to discuss the impact of brain injury within the family, providing education and coping strategies along the way. BIFI was designed by Dr. Jeffrey Kreutzer and provides a step-by-step format to explore issues as a family unit, recognizing that an injury impacts not only the survivor but the family as a whole. More information is available at http://www.tbifamilyresearch.com/bifi.
Training sessions are periodically organized for the BIFI program. Would you be interested in attending a BIFI training locally? If so, please email me at [email protected]. If we can get enough people on board perhaps we can bring it to Southeastern Ontario! If you have received BIFI training or received it as a family member, leave a comment and let us know your experiences with it.
