One in three adults in KFL&A has no dental coverage. What do you do if you need dental treatment but can’t afford it?
Many adults in our community have difficulty accessing dental care, due to cost or other barriers. The following programs may be able to help:
- New – City of Kingston Extended Health Benefits Program: The Extended Health Benefits Program provides low-income residents in Kingston with vision, dental, and prescription medication benefits. Funds are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. This program runs through Dec. 31, 2019.
- Dental Treatment Assistance Fund (DTAF) is a charitable fund administered by KFL&A Public Health. Eligible adults (ages 18+) can receive up to $200 towards urgent dental treatment. Contact KFL&A Public Health at 613-549-1232, ext. 1218.
- Kingston Community Health Centres (KCHC) Dental clinics in Kingston (Weller Avenue) and Napanee offer dental services to low-income adults, recipients of ODSP or OW, and children with Healthy Smiles Ontario. Contact KCHC at 613-507-6064.
- Reduced-cost dental services are available at dental schools (e.g., George Brown College, Algonquin College, University of Toronto dental clinic). Individuals can self-refer to these dental schools. Travel is required.
- Lennox & Addington Dental Assistance for Seniors has interest-free loans for adults 50 years of age and over residing in L&A for dental treatment. Contact L&A Seniors Outreach at 613-354-6668
